AWS Loft South Africa: Top 5 Sessions

AWS Loft South Africa: Top 5 Sessions

AWS is hosting an AWS Pop-up Loft right now in Johannesburg, and we couldn’t be more excited!

As an AWS Select Consulting Partner operating in South Africa, we’re looking forward to meeting with like-minded cloud professionals in our region as we brush up on the latest AWS services. But with a large list of compelling sessions over the three-week conference, it can be difficult to know what to attend. To help you (and us!) decide, we’re sharing our top five:

1. Gaining Near Real-time Data Insights from Remote Physical Environments

March 13, 1:00PM – 4:00PM

Real-time data analysis is the way of the future for business analytics and optimization, particularly when it comes to information from IoT devices. In fact, we’re increasingly delivering client projects in this space. We’re interested to learn how AWS Greengrass and AWS IoT services can help deliver real-time insights in environments with poor internet connectivity.

2. An Introduction to Reinforcement Learning

March 25, 10:00AM – 11:00PM

Reinforcement learning is a Machine Learning technique suited for complex, unpredictable, environments that can be simulated. Reinforcement learning also has many applications in the industrial automation space, which is of interest to anyone involved in enterprise asset management or industrial IoT. Plus they’ll also talk about AWS DeepRacer, something our team is very excited about!

3. Insights and Prediction – An AWS Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence Overview

March 26, 10:00AM – 11:00PM

It is estimated that by 2020, an average smart building will be collecting 37.2 zetabytes of data, yet on average, only 1% of all of the data collected from smart devices is used. This session will explore how organizations have used the cloud to manage and analyze vast quantities of data, while also exploring how AWS services can help.

4. IoT Building Blocks – From Edge Devices to Analytics in the Cloud

March 27, 10:00AM – 11:00PM

The market for IoT is growing rapidly, along with the need for cloud services to manage the data generated by these devices.  This session will be interesting as it explores how organizations have used IoT data to solve problems, while also exploring relevant AWS services.

5. Wildlife Monitoring and Anti-Poaching with AWS

March 27, 1:00PM – 2:00PM

Wildlife tracking and monitoring is a key issue in Sub Saharan Africa. With AWS launching services in our region in 2020, we’re interested to see the ways their technology is being put to use to address this important issue.

The AWS Pop Up Loft will run until March 29. If you’d like to recommend a session or meet with us, feel free to drop us a line.
