AWS Pushes Forward on Cloud Security, Database and AI Initiatives

At the AWS Summit in Santa Clara on March 27, the public cloud provider announced several new services and capabilities, while reinforcing core elements of its platform growth including artificial intelligence and security. Among the new services is a concurrency service for the Redshift data warehouse, deep learning containers and the general availability of the App Mesh service mesh.

Across all aspects of the cloud however, AWS sees security as being a foundational element.

Insurance Brokerage Launches Cybersecurity Assessment Services

An insurance brokerage has launched an initiative to bring together some of the world’s biggest insurers for a collaboration on a cybersecurity product rating service. The plan, which illustrates the growing dangers of hacking, is meant to create an assessment system for the most viable cybersecurity defenses available to businesses. The potential benefits of the initiative could include fewer claims from hacking-related attacks.

Chinese Province’s Transport Upgrade Plans Will Make Use of Blockchain, IoT

Blockchain will be one of the technologies local Chinese authorities will leverage in an overhaul of local transport infrastructure. In addition to blockchain, new plans recently approved other disruptive tools such as big data and the Internet of Things (IoT), and are expected to be useful for implementation in the Jiangsu Province, north of Shanghai. These implementations aim to update both passenger and freight networks to reduce pollution and increase efficiency.

The changes belong to a multi-year project called the “Implementation Plan for the Promotion of Transportation Infrastructure Development”.
