Announcing Canshield Joint Venture: FAQ

FuseForward have recently entered into a joint venture with CanShield Solutions and Old Kent Road Financial (read more). The following FAQs provide further insight into what this joint venture means for us and our customers.

Why are we undertaking this joint venture?

FuseForward and CanShield Solutions offer products and services that complement each other. The joint venture is an opportunity for our organizations to work together to meet the growing demand for data centre and cloud services in western Canada while enhancing the services we offer our customers.

As a result of this joint venture, FuseForward can now provision highly secure and reliable IT infrastructure in western Canada, including a secure cloud on-ramp service to AWS.

What is FuseForward’s role in the joint venture?

FuseForward’s products and services, including the FuseForward Cloud Suite, will support and enhance the critical IT solutions delivered by CanShield Solutions. Working together we can provide our customers with a complete end-to-end solution for their cloud operations.

How will the joint venture support our work with AWS?

The joint venture with CanShield Solutions will provide enhanced access to AWS services for our Canadian customers. We can now provide our customers with a secure cloud on-ramp and networking demarcation point, allowing customers to easily access AWS Canada through a direct fibre line to the AWS Montreal data centre.

What is Old Kent Road Financial’s role in the joint venture?

Old Kent Road Financial will take the role of an advisor and provide financing to the company. They will not be involved in the day-to-day business of CanShield Solutions.

What does this mean for our customers?

The joint venture will expand the breadth of our product offerings and will enhance the services we offer to new and existing customers. This includes:

    • A full suite of cloud and critical IT solutions, including hybrid-cloud, managed infrastructure, public cloud on-ramp and colocation.
    • Enhanced data residency options for Canadian customers.
    • A secure Network Operation Center (NOC) and Security Operation Center (SOC) within the Kamloops data centre with the ability to provide 24/7/365 technical support.

What is our vision for hybrid cloud?

Hybrid cloud allows data and applications to be shared between both private and public cloud infrastructure. Hybrid-cloud is often the first step on an organization’s journey to the cloud and is a common choice for Canadian public sector organizations who need to comply with strict data residency requirements.

The market for hybrid-cloud is currently experiencing rapid growth. With a fully-managed hybrid cloud service, FuseForward has more potential to meet the demands of this growing market.
